Community Car Clubs

Derwent Valley Car Club

Derwent Valley Car Club established the first solely electric Rural Community Car Club in 2013 in Blackhall Mill, Gateshead.

With driver and non-driver members, individual and multi-person memberships and a small yet dedicated team of volunteer drivers helping their non-drivers make hospital, surgery, and social engagements.

DVCC has fully electric cars based in Blackhall Mill, Rowlands Gill, Shotley Bridge, Blackhill, and Medomsley.

The community car club is available to people from across the Derwent Valley Area and the DVCC Volunteer Driver Scheme (VDS) which supports people who cannot drive themselves, with a volunteer driver, has affectionately been compared to a companionship car club due to the nature of the helpful scheme and friendly scheme.
